Becoming a boy mom.

I always pictured myself as a girl mom. I could do girl. But a boy? Boys scared me.

Until I had one.

I loooooooooooove having a little boy. Like, super love times a thousand, love.

Maybe there is just an inherent nervousness about having a second baby that is the opposite gender from your first. I’ll speak for myself, but I was comfortable with girl stuff. Boy stuff seemed foreign. But…

…it’s true.

There’s just somethin’ about little boys.

He makes me more emotional. He softens me in a different way than my daughter has. He strengthens me. (in more ways than one)

He is just exactly the person to complete this family.

Boys

are

awesome.

The end.

  • gina w. - I agree! Just wait until he’s moving around and walking! I have an almost 4 year old girl and my boy is 15 months. He’s by far more curious and borderline destructive! haha! You still have that melt your whole body love, but you feel it while you are constantly running toward the next disaster! haha!ReplyCancel

  • Megan - I only have the boy mom experience (and another boy on the way!) but I couldn’t agree with you more about how great it is. There are some fun shirts/gear that are funny & embrace the oh-so-fun life with boys, if you want to check out Boy Mom Designs..a friend sent me their way about a year ago, and I love a lot of their stuff. :) http://www.boymomdesigns.com/ReplyCancel

  • JoAnne - As the mom of two beautiful boys, I couldn’t agree more! I’m actually terrified of having a girl after having both my boys- more for the teenage years! ;-)ReplyCancel

  • Marybeth - oh my goodness, such precious pictures. You capture his little personality in every single one!

And I agree. I have 3 boys, and I’m a huge boy softie!! :)ReplyCancel

  • Amy - I 100% agree. I have a 4 year old daughter and an almost 2 year old son, and I’m so thankful that I have one of each. It’s so crazy to think of now, but I was somewhat disappointed when I found out #2 would be a boy. I also saw myself as a “girl mom” and felt a little sad that I wasn’t giving my daughter a sister – so silly. Now, I cannot imagine not having my boy. They do just capture your heart in a different way, and my kids have an amazing relationship. They love each other so much and bring out different characteristics in the other. Boys (and girls!) are awesome!ReplyCancel

  • alison - As a mama to 3 boys I couldn’t agree more.ReplyCancel

  • Pattyann - I agree totally, and btw my boy flips the cars over and spins the wheels too, even with tiny hot wheel cars. It must just be something in their instincts.ReplyCancel

  • Nicole - My boy is 10 months & I know exactly what you are talking about! When I was pregnant, I wanted a girl so bad. I know what the boys are like in my family & the thought of having a boy like that scared me to death!! But the moment he was born was the best moment of my life! I have been completely head-over-heels in love with this sweet boy of mine more than I ever thought possible! He is full of hugs, kisses, & cuddles! (I do dread the junior high years though! I’ve heard boys are just as hormonal as girls!) :)ReplyCancel

  • Emily - I know what you mean! My first was a boy and I felt so unprepared for a boy but completely fell in love with him and got nervous when I found out my second was a girl! I was so into little boys and couldn’t wait for another. Now, of course, I love my sweet little princess, as well! But my boy keeps my life so fun and full of joy!ReplyCancel
