Halloween. The not-perfect kind.

Yesterday I had two choices:

(1) be the kind of mom who puts down the camera because her kid doesn’t look perfect

(2) be the kind of mom who sees the beauty, despite the imperfections. & captures it just the way it is.

I chose the latter. & now, we’ll remember…

the good. the bad.

& the effing mosquito.

Her costume was a complete DIY. She was a spider princess for under $20. & a sassy one, at that. :)

she held on for dear life–so concerned “bitsy spider WITH A PRETTY BOW” was going to fall off her back. :)

& what a contrast from last year. She was into us. Smiled. Squealed. Stayed put. This year…I could hardly keep up.

  • Susan - Oh my goodness! So sweet!! And ironically the costume almost makes her look like the spider may have bit her. (vs a mosquito) poor thing. Love the spider bow too!ReplyCancel

  • Charlie - Bless her heart; she looks pitiful!!! And fabulous. That costume is adorable….she looks SO tall!!!ReplyCancel

  • Ashley - Her costume is great and I bet she rocked it despite the swollen eye. Poor thing.

When I was 11 I had a similar reaction to a few mosquito bites. I was at girl scout camp and got bit a few times on my face. I don’t think my eye was ever quite that swollen, but I do remember looking a bit ridiculous. I’ve also had a really bad one on my ankle, it was so swollen and I couldn’t walk so my mom took me to the doctor. She was so surprised that they said it was just a mosquito bite. I hope Caroline doesn’t have too much trouble with them!ReplyCancel
