on blogging. & business.

Every so often, a series of events seem to occur & force me to stop what I am doing & really think about my intentions. I am having one of those moments. It started when I read a post from the mom who quit blogging. Then an officer came to speak to my mops group about internet safety. Then I watched this documentary that made me stop & think about real talent vs. marketing hype. Then I read a post on blogging & jealousy. All these things are weaving my thoughts together & forcing me to think about things differently than I have before. Because this blog is really growing.

I have been very honest here about my blog & my business. Over the last few months I have clarified just exactly what it all means to me. My family comes first & I have made some pretty conscious decisions lately to let some opportunities go, because I am afraid that my family would pay the price of my split attention. As for business, current client info is available here. As for blogging, well, hmmmm. Eventually, I will have the time for sponsorships & possibly turn this into a place of revenue, but for now–it is just my little place of happy. & I am VERY protective over what goes on here.

This is not a family blog. not a daily journal. not a place for freebies. not a place for negativity. & I am not looking for a fan club.

This is a place where I CREATE, on a budget. This is a place where I discuss the joys & challenges of motherhood, and life really, in an effort to help us all GROW. This is a place where I bring all of the things I am working on, learning about & thinking of, in an effort to INSPIRE. Because who doesn’t need a place for a little encouragement? I know I do. I cannot do this job alone. I love seeing other ways to do things, because usually it helps me perfect my own systems. I don’t know about you but I read blogs because I learn so so so much. & I love that. I want you here because we share a passion. Whatever it is that we share, I want you here because it makes you a better YOU.

So this, my friends, is the theme of the year for me:

CREATE | GROW | INSPIRE

I think if I write each post with those three things in mind, this will stay my happy place. & hopefully one for you too. I am so thankful for all of you lovely people who come here to read & share your positivity. I learn so much from you. I have NEVER had to delete a comment due to negativity & that makes me really happy. Thanks for enjoying this journey with me. :) It takes a village…right?

& because every post needs a picture…this is one of my daughter’s new signature moves…she is the one tear wonder. Works herself into the biggest fit & at the end, drops just one tear. That’s all. Just one. & it sticks around long after the frown is gone. The teenage years are going to be FUN!

Hi! Hello! I am Shawna, the founder of Styleberry Blog. This creative corner of the internet has become a learning haven for moms and creatives, offering a warm and encouraging nudge to those who wish to be better and do better, but often don't know where to start. From Decorating to DIY to Diapers and Paleo-ish Dishes, I strive to make the complicated simple and empower women to take action beyond their personal comfort zone. I subscribe to the Shine Theory & so strongly believe that we shine when the women around us shine and mutual support—lifting up instead of tearing down--will always be the culture here. Are you in? I hope so! Beyond the computer, I run Styleberry Creative where I work with clients to create low fuss, high function spaces that are pretty and practical in San Antonio, Texas and beyond. I LOVE making a house a home. My own studs out renovation is now complete and I am now back to working with clients. Please don't hesitate to drop me a line if you'd like to work together! I hope you’ll join me on this fun new adventure! Xo.
