Are you taking maternity leave?
You better take maternity leave.
But still take pictures! & share them! We want to see the baby!!!
Ahh. Welcome to my life.
I have never been a gal who can’t say “no.” I pretty much say “no” more than I say “yes” (a wonderful skill I have already passed onto my dear daughter) and I can manage my life because of it. This means I do the things I want to do & spend time with the people I enjoy. But lately I have been forgetting how to say “no.” & it is catching up with me. I am tired. & a bit overwhelmed. & despite having a very accomplished to-do list…I still have a lot of stuff I need–and want– to do. But I feel like a ticking time bomb. & it’s stressing me out.
So when do you say when?
Well. My when is now.
I’m choosing to live off the computer for a bit. caroline & I have very little time left as the pair we are right now and I want to enjoy every second with her. I have a couple of major projects I want to accomplish pre-baby (like my 2011 Blurb books & sewing a chair & ottoman slip cover) and I have to finish Ina May and Hypnobabies & I need to do it. Just DO it.
& take my girl to starbucks for morning chit chats over hot chocolate. & to the book store to browse the shelves for fun stories to read. & to lunch so we can enjoy our special mommy & me time.
So…I’ll still be here. Sometimes. Fridays for sure, but nothing regular other than that. If something strikes my fancy & I can find the time & energy to share, I will. I’ll be on the styleberry facebook page here & there too. But I need some down time. Some ME time. Some US time. Time to relish life as three. :)
I know you’ll understand.
I am so grateful for all of you who help to support, encourage & inspire me through your comments & your sweet facebook messages. I have about a zillion unanswered emails from many of you & it kills me that I cannot respond to each one, but I just can’t. My facebook wall is the best place to keep in contact with quick questions. I promise to reply there as time allows.
You can also direct all stylebabyLOG questions to shawna [at] stylebabyLOG [dot] com. Orders will continue to ship ASAP (usually within a day)–with the exception of the week that I deliver. You’ll get a special message should you happen to order during that crazy window. :)
You can also catch me over on my latest obsession–instagram. My username is miss_shawna and I’m pretty sure the first pics of the new babe will be there before anywhere else. :) I’m loving what I can do with my iPhone images…and it’s a fun little community too! Here’s a peek at my life through instagram…
- girl time…from forever ago, but it’s still one of my faves. :)
- eff sewing.
- big sky country, indeed!
- top pregnancy craving #3. yummm.
- POP!
- B12=sanity.
- yuck. yuck. yuck. trade you for snow?
- red toes…in hopes of a valentine’s day babe! ;)
Now…off to tackle that four post-it to-do list. Yowza.
HAPPY MONDAY!
oooh. & I also want to direct you over to the home of my latest collaboration–a place I will now be contributing regularly! You can find my first article up today on Honest to Nod, which is the lovely & inspirational blog from The Land of Nod. I’ve shared my love of all things Nod before, but it is one of my absolute favorite places to shop for my caroline! :)

Enjoy the downtime Shawna – I was 10 days early with my girl and didn’t have any downtime until she (surprise!) arrived one Sunday morning and oh how I regret it. Revel in your time with your girl before your new girl or boy arrives. Your community out here will be waiting for you when you decide you’re ready!
Reading Ina May before giving birth really helped to ease into the giving birth rythmn of my own body! enjoy them and your little girl.
I will miss seeing you as often but I’m so happy for you and Caroline for your decision! Family comes first. Enjoy these last few weeks with just you girls. I have a little bit of a confession that makes me feel silly but… I live in San Antonio and my daughter is a month older than Caroline. After reading your blog for the last year I feel like I know you. Please don’t take that in a crazy way! Anyway, best wishes for a great delivery and recovery. I hope things go smoother this time around. Can’t wait to see pictures and find out boy/girl!
GOOD FOR YOU!!! I am trying to break my *Yes* habit right now…I am having trouble shaking my people-pleasing ways :$ But I am driving myself nuts trying to make everyone happy and am only succeeding in making myself miserable! My baby deserves a happy mama, and a happy mama is one who knows how to say NO!
Enjoy!! Glad you’re taking a break :) we were blessed with a valentine’s day babe last year! Fingers crossed for you haha!
Enjoy this time so much, Shawna! My good friend is due Valentine’s Day – maybe your babies will share a birthday! I’m not due until April, but I am already finding myself wanting to soak up as much time as possible with my sweet 2-year-old daughter. I can’t believe I have to say goodbye to spending my days having special one-on-one “girl time” with her. But, I know you and I will both be trading something great for something equally wonderful as our families grow!
Have a super dooper time with your girly! And good luck with that to do list :D
Enjoy this special time with your family. I can’t wait to see pictures of the baby. Hope all goes well!
Congratulations on becoming a contributor to the Land of Nod! I am very proud.
While I will miss your updates, I am happy for you and your two little ones. You need this time and won’t miss much (at all!) on the internet while you’re gone :) Take care of your little lady and your little peanut!
I love me some post it notes !
Good for you. Enjoy your time. We will miss you though :)
