we remember…

& thank goodness for that. Because this little slice of heaven was nestled in my toughest day as a mama yet. I was running on four hours of sleep…that I got in one hour increments overnight. Moments like these remind me how sweet this job is…despite the [abundant] challenges. :)

Kristen - Whew girl! Been there.. Sleep deprivation is HARD. I had the problem you read about.. the baby gets into this “grazing” pattern, they nurse a little, fall asleep, wake up still hungry, want to nurse a little more, fall asleep again. AHH! it was crazy. I finally started holding her off to two hours at least in between feedings (which wad tough) and if she wanted to suck on something inbetween I used a pacifier.. finally she started sleeping more! Turns out she also really likes to suck -hence the overfeeding I was doing. My Pedia says some babies just really like to suck more than others. She is almost 3 months and I feel like I can finally read her cues, when she wants the binky and when she’s actually hungry. My boobs are so grateful!! ;)

Heather - I’ve been told the “days are long, but the years are short.” Those first few months with a newborn are LOOOONG. Wonderful you are able to capture such sweet moments of your babes to look back on. The sleepless nights will be a distant memory soon….hang in there.
