I am in the process of creating “sister” businesses to fall under the overarching styleberry brand. So far this has served as the main site for styleberryHOME and I have been brainstorming over the last few weeks about how to merge my two worlds together. I know you all come from mixed backgrounds and have experience in both industries and I would really like your opinions about how to move forward.
After tossing around the idea of maintaining a separate photography blog, I have decided that that is just crazy! Most potential clients will check out a blog to learn more about the person they are going to hire and since my life has many creative facets, I figured it would be best to keep them all in one place. A little design, a little gardening, a little baking and photography too. It’s new name will be styleberryBLOG and will have very clear paths in the nav bar taking you to my design information OR to my new photography website [still in development].
How do you feel about this?
I also have been trying to decide exactly how to name my sister business. I love the idea of keeping it all square and calling it styleberryFOTO. However, after researching search engine optimization, I am afraid I might lose search engine hits if ‘photo’ isn’t in the name. But then I get to thinking that some people call themselves “john doe studios” and get hits, so I am torn. I know it is a deliberate English misspelling; it is correct in German, Italian and Spanish (which might be good in San Antonio!) So here are the two concepts I am toying with.
Which do you prefer & why?
OR
Lastly, I am trying to figure out how to use my header as a “tie” for everything. Do I add some of my photography work amidst the design elements? Should I lose the header style I have & alternate between photography headers & design headers, but not together? As in one after another: design, photography, design, photography? I am really not sure what to do on this one.
Have any creative ideas for me?
I am getting all my “behind the scenes” stuff done as of late, which is why it’s been a little quieter on here than normal! I have been working hard to complete both my new website & my office makeover! We have the desk installed & I am designing the walls above it and refinishing some furniture to go in there. I will share it all when it is done vs. along the way because then you can see it in its entirety! I am busy busy!!
