Project 52 | THIRTY NINE

Am I the only one that struggles with this? Jeez.

My hubs is on a pretty terrible work schedule right now and I just can’t seem to get ahead of anything. So, the laundry is piling up, the floors are a little dustier than they should be and the dishes get done once a day. But while everett napped (!!!), caroline & I made a pretty terrific batch of cookies, some chocolate chip and some coconut cranberry, to celebrate the week of “C” & share for show and tell at school. As far as I’m concerned…that outweighs the importance of having folded laundry. Right? Right. I’ll never regret watching her eyes sparkle as she held the teaspoon AND poured the “va-niya” all by herself today. No folded laundry is worth missing that for. None at all. :)

Remember this? It’s one of my faves. & my mom said this saying was hanging in my nursery as a baby. I love it. Until further notice, my house is a little less kept than I’d like, a little messier than I’m comfortable with and full of a lot more love than I ever imagined. ❤

& Project 52 is off to a very collaborative start! If you’d like to join in–it’s not too late. Here’s everything you need to know about

  • Emilee - Thanks for the reminder. I woke up this morning worrying about my unfolded laundry in the dryer. But I’m going to take time to read to my daughter instead. The laundry’s not going anywhere.ReplyCancel

    • katie clay - This is something I struggle with daily. I have that quote memorized, but mine reads: ‘Oh emails and voicemails will wait til tomorrow, but children grow up I’ve learned to my sorrow. So quiet down blackberry, inbox go to sleep. I’m rocking my baby. babies don’t keep.’ ;)ReplyCancel

  • Ashley - It is so true. And va-ni-ya is one of my favorite things to hear Ryann say when we are baking too. So sweet :).ReplyCancel

  • Rebecca - Here, Here! Such a great reminder that we all need- thank you Shawna! And your photos as always are so beautiful! I was embracing this fully until Delaney officially started crawling yesterday and reminded me that mopping the floors now deserves to go back on the “need to do” list ;)ReplyCancel

  • Julie Meier - Made me cry! Thanks Shawna! We are in the same boat here!! You are so not alone on this one!!ReplyCancel

  • Jessica - Awesome… I get too stressed about the dirty floors and piles of laundry that either aren’t folded, or folded but not put away yet. Thank you! Time with my husband and baby boy are WAY more important than any dusty rug!!!!!!!ReplyCancel

  • Meghan - Oh how true this is, I feel exactly the same. Thank you for posting this.ReplyCancel

  • Jenny - I’ll have you know I am making myself a little print out of this and hanging it in my kitchen. I have a spot right over my oven that I hang a frame and change out the artwork in it from time to time. In the winter, it has a Christmas print from Jones Design Company, and I also have printed another one of your Project 52 sayings… Motherhood is Priorities. I typed it up pretty and framed it. I find I switch the frame to that one most often to help me cope with my mess of a house and grilled cheese for dinner twice a week…Just a little reminder that it is okay to let things go for your family. :) love it.ReplyCancel
