My big girl turned three this week. sniff, sniff.
But this year was not like the first. or the second. Mama just needed something a little less fussy. I’ll get back to the detailed parties eventually, but somehow, this was just as special. Despite lacking the multitude of DIYs. She had just one–her shirt. And she smiled. All of our family came to visit (and are still here). And that, is a successful birthday. That’s what matters, right? Family. Love. Joy.
She awoke to a sea of balloons. Spent a day in charge–going to all her favorite places. Enjoying the exact birthday party she wanted. & we indulged her in the things she loves. Gymnastics. Movies. The Cars cake she has been visiting every week at Target.
It’s not about the fancy party. It’s not about the pretty blog post. It’s about how special she knows she is to all of us.
I hugged her tight at 10:15pm. I told her I loved her most. & she told me she loved me most and more too. & I celebrated this sweet, loving, kind child that made me a mother.
I don’t know how one can be more grateful with each passing year. But I sure am. :)
