she drinks like a camel | a personalized gift

Two years ago, during my corporate life, I earned a really big award. The reward for my work was a week long trip hopping around Germany, all expenses paid. My husband had just started his residency, so my plus one was my BFF. Let me tell you, you learn a lot about a person when you travel with them. You REALLY learn a lot about a person when you travel with them to a foreign country. I learned that my BFF could come back in her next life as a camel. But the kind of camel that needs a bathroom every hour. And won’t drink sparkling water.

If you haven’t discovered Victoria’s blog yet,  I definitely recommend it: FITori. She researches all the things that I don’t. (well, some of the things I do, just not to the extent that she does) She just recently started a series on nutrition & fertility, which certainly might interest a lot of you.

Now, to the fun stuff. I fell in love with photography in Germany & took pictures of EVERYTHING. I mean EVERYTHING. I even took pictures of the bathroom floor. Seriously! Not kidding! Don’t believe me? Well, that is what you are looking at below. This is the gorgeous floor of the Sofitel Munich, which was an unbelievably beautiful place. Photo opportunities around every corner. Even in places you never thought were supposed to be beautiful.

Fast forward two years. I was reading an issue of Real Simple & stumbled upon a neat gift idea. Personalized SIGG water bottles. I am definitely a Nalgene girl myself (this one is my fave, with this on top), but Tori is a SIGG girl & this seemed like a really thoughtful gift for her. She always told me how much she loved this picture, so I picked one of my favorite quotes from lululemon bag I had laying around, which has the most amazing words all over it. We’re both quote people & I really like this one. So, for those of you looking for a fun gift to give, this is both special & practical! And pretty too. :D

She just did a post on her new bottle & the importance of water. Check it out HERE! (and the pic on the right is hers!!) I credit my love of water & pellegrino for a lot of my weight maintenance success. You will rarely find me drinking anything else…except coffee. ;)

Oh, and one last thing. If you are a nalgene girl, but are still drooling over this idea–relax, you can have one too! Just check out NalgeneSkins!

Meghan Simmons - Have you ever tried the camelback water bottles, I love them. I am also a huge Nalgene fan too but the Sigg looks interesting!

Wendy - I am a nalgene girl too.. Siggs seem like they’d be hard to clean! Great to know you can change out the lid… I may have to personalize my own nalgene now too.. =) Great post Shawna!

Erinn - I too am a nalgene girl! However, I did see the ad for the personalized SIGG bottle in Real Simple as well. Instead of the personalized bottle I did the gelaskins for our iphones.

Lilliana - A bathroom floor? Beauty is everywhere if you bother to look. I love this personalized water bottle idea and have used and like both brands but my new favorite is thinksport. They have an insulated bottle that comes in pretty shimmery colors and most importantly keeps my water ICE cold (i put ice cubes in when I fill it) in the 100+ TX weather. I spend a great deal of time in my car and anything I leave in it turns to hot soup so this is the only water bottle that still has cubes in it after 9 hours in my car. Actually I left it in the card (forgot it) from noon to 8 pm in my driveway and the water was still cold and ice was still in it. You can find them here but we are almost out… will reorder soon and you can also buy direct from them here or some Whole Foods also carry them. If you are in the heat they are sooo worth it. They also keep hot items very hot for very long but for me it was the keeping water cold that sold me.

Just an other option…
