I made it back to Texas yesterday. I cant say I’m overjoyed to be back and I finally figured out why. After five days being surrounded by the vivid colors of the bay area I came back to brown. And then it hit me. There are no flowers here! The ground is brown, the trees are greenish brown (year round) and there are NO FLOWERS! I think I have a mission this week. My backyard needs to be transformed into a place that shows signs of the seasons, not just the blah that is year round summer. Maybe then I’ll forget I am stuck in a city that shown no signs of seasons for the next five years.
While home I had a lovely visit with my family, friends and special people I don’t see enough. My mom & I hit all the fancy maternity boutiques and I came home with a bunch of stuff to cover my expanding waistline. I am SO in denial, thinking: “my clothes will fit me all the way through. I can’t possibly get any bigger.” (people seem to laugh at me when I say this…but I am gripping reality…) Fat chance. Unless you want to see a racy preggo lady showing belly with her pants half buttoned. So…I’m happy to say I’ve got stuff to keep me covered in this heat for the next few months!
I made a pit stop to Central Park and took some pictures. There were less flowers there than I’d hoped so I took it upon myself to snap a picture that is missing from my wedding album. Our photographer never took our rings. Even though I only had mine (and it is nearly impossible to get crisp focus without a macro lens! grr!), this picture is special to me because in the distance behind this bench is the place I spoke of in my prior post. The place where our love grew.
And because my toes are rapidly disappearing…I thought I better take a “birds eye” shot before they are gone for good. What you see down below me are the out-of-control weeds that will be gone when I hit the yard for spring sprucing next weekend. But…made for interesting texture!
I’m going to need your help on something this week, so please stay tuned because I would love opinions…
