My what a year. I am not a big birthday celebrator but every time this day rolls around I do like to stop & think about what this last year has been like. How I have changed. What I have learned. I like to think that with each passing year I gather just a little more grace and a little more wisdom. I am a lover of learning & as long as I have acquired skills I didn’t possess before, I call the year a success.
One year ago I was preparing to quit a job I was very good at but didn’t enjoy one bit. I was working for a large pharmaceutical company, selling contraceptives I wholeheartedly believe in. It was a great company, a phenomenal experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything, but my heart just wasn’t in my work. I was messing around with my camera here & there and designing my blank slate of a brand new home and dreaming of the future. I was frustrated that I had not yet been able to conceive a child, but thankful to be married to my best friend who supported my uncertain future.
I have learned a lot about myself this year. I have learned that often I need to think a little more before I speak. I learned that there is a plan for me, and taking life in stride instead of forcing things is actually a lot less stressful than trying to plan it all. I learned how to grow food in a garden. I learned how to live on a budget and still save for our future. I learned how to properly form an LLC and start a small business. I learned how to take better pictures than I ever thought I was capable of taking. I learned what it feels like to stare at two pink lines on a stick and jump for joy at the thought of actually becoming a mother. I learned that somehow, life gives you just what you need, exactly when you need it.
Thank you for going through this crazy journey with me this past year. I feel so blessed to have all of you, my blog readers & my friends, here to support me along the way. I cherish you!
And because every blog post is better with a picture, these are the flowers that are blooming outside my office window (and have been blooming since March non-stop!) They are the most beautiful shade of magenta-ish red & I enjoy them every day!
