Meet the patio!

So the patio makeover is just about complete. We are working on a budget here, so it won’t be exactly as I want it the first go around, but so far the result is that we spend at least a few minutes more outside every day! We might even see a drop to 80 degree weather this week, which would be awesome! Today I discovered that my laptop cord reaches from the plug to my favorite chair…so its likely I will be updating this from out here often!

[here’s the only before picture I could find]

 [and after]

So you know the story on my bargain chairs. They do rock back & forth! I left the blah brown lumbar pillows at the store and found these at Garden Ridge, a new store my neighbor tipped me off to here in SA. These were actually ottoman cushions, but I removed some puckered stitching & fluffed them out so I could use them as pillows. They were 50% off too! I also wanted to get some plants to make the space more private until we have trees that grow high enough to block out our neighbors. I went to Lowe’s and for some reason the guy decided to give me half off on these massive 10′ majestic palms, which ended up being $13/tree! (guess I will be wearing my workout pants to Lowe’s more often! HA!) I raided the christmas department (already?!?) and found round bulbed lights, which I used my trusty staple gun to affix to the railing. I put them on a remote so I can turn them on & off from inside! I still want to find a firepit/sturdy round table to kick our feet up on & hold a drink. I think I found one at target, just might be a tad too big. Total budget spent on this space so far: $320. Not bad!!!

Just one piece of advice…remember anything you see from inside your home, through a window, becomes part of your interior decor. Thus, if you see your patio furniture from your living room (which is the case here) it should match your living room!!!
