San Antonio’s unbearable heat has kept me locked indoors ever since I moved here, but there is hope for cooling down in the near future! The last two days I have opened my windows and let the sub 90 degree (we actually got into the 70s!!) air flow through my house and it has done so much to boost my spirit! Now that it is tolerable outdoors we want to use our lovely covered patio but have no decent furniture to enjoy. We couldn’t justify having it in Omaha where we had just a couple months out of the year to enjoy it. And even those were full of mosquitoes. Given the (almost) year round potential use here, we figured it would be a great investment. Plus, our patio is covered, so it wont wear & tear so badly! I just dream of my Sunday morning paper & coffee on the patio…or evenings with a glass of wine watching the stars through my big ‘ol oak tree…
So the hunt began…much to my disappointment…well, kind of. The major box stores have already clearanced out their furniture…just at the time of year when it is perfect to be outside?!? What?! They apparently begin this process late July, early August. I looked everywhere for furniture within the budget I set & in the style I want. I wanted low to the ground comfortable conversation furniture. no formal table, but a table to set drinks or a glass of wine. Something I could curl up in & was wide enough to support sitting w/ my knees bent & feet up on the chair. Just a comfy set of good looking stuff. It’s harder to find than you might think!
Keeping in mind that anything you can see from one room really should compliment the room you are in, I had to be sure it matched my living room & kitchen. I have a couple large windows that would make the furniture visible from the inside, so I wanted to stick with the earth tones & generally the same feel of my interior space. I looked far & wide and finally settled on this set, from sears. I highly recommend checking out their outdoor furniture if you are in the market, because I was able to get mine at a discount greater than half off! So it appears now is a pretty good time to furnish the outdoors, if you are looking for a deal!
