I am learning…it’s the little moments that matter.
In life & in photography.
My definition of beautiful is changing. My beautiful has shifted towards catching the unexpected, unprompted moment.
I married a man who hates the camera. He supports me behind it, but he hates being on the other side. Being the subject is not something that he is comfortable with and he will ruin, I mean DESTROY pictures if he knows I am aiming at him. He will walk away if I get my camera out. He’ll turn his back or give me the “look.” Which only means I have been forced to develop a very stealthy style of shooting when he is around. I am quick, quiet and do not push. At all. I catch what happens naturally. Which most certainly carries over into my work with my lovely clients.
We went to the zoo this week & I brought my camera. He got irritated with me for playing mamarazzi, but…someday I know these images will bring him joy. Every single one of them. This was my favorite of the day.
The moment. It’s perfection. It’s real. & if you saw the other side, you’d see a little girl going “pfffffft pfffffttt pfffffftt” at her beloved elephants and squeezing her daddy’s shoulder in delight. This is what it’s all about. :)
