I see the world in vibrant color. I remember it in black and white.
When I flip through the gallery of images I admire in my head, I see only rich dark chocolatey black and completely colorless white. Yet all day long I search for color. I wear color. I eat color. I live for color. But somehow, I feel more when I look at black and white. Strange, I know.
When I sit down to edit a shoot, some images just scream “TAKE OUT THE COLOR” to me. So I do, and then I love the image even more. I don’t ever take an edited color image and turn it black & white. My B&Ws are always hand crafted from scratch, using my own recipe to make it look the way I think it should look. Sometimes I love the color so much, that the image never ends up without it. Then sometimes, black and white is the only way an image looks perfect to me. So if you become a client of mine, you will surely have both. Some of your images will only be one way or the other. But sometimes, I love them both ways and I can’t choose. So you get them both.
Case in point: Mr. Sam Man. If you watch the flash header up above, that image with the newborn on the woven chair with the orange wall…that’s Sammy! & that’s his mama & daddy to the left of him. I met up with him not too long ago to test out my first 24-70L. I am now on my third one, due to focus issues. These images were also shot with my old camera, a Canon 30D. I now shoot with the 5DMKII.
Regardless, I loved both the color & B&Ws from this shoot. Can you see why?
& I also loved…
