Am I really going to write this again? I am. Because I am feeling it again.

This blog. This crazy blog. I love it. I love writing it. I love sharing. I love inspiring. I love teaching you how to enjoy & do the things I care about.

But I love my babies more.

I could be [even more] sleep deprived and stay up at night to write. I could be putting them in front of the TV/iPad so I could write. I could be hiring help so I could write.

But I don’t want to.

I want to be there. I want them to want to be with me the same way I want to be with them.

& although this blog has received an insane amount of traffic since my sweet little boy was born, I just can’t let google analytics change my mind about my priorities.

I have helpful and relevant and useful and encouraging things to share. & I will continue to do just that.

But my babies will only be little once.

So as soon as I start sleeping more and they start doing the same, then I will return to this lovely little place & get it back to the dynamic place it was before we became a family of four.

I hope you’ll understand.

If you are the kind of soul I want along for this ride, I know you will.

xoxo.

  • Tiffany Zajas - Your priorities are right where they should be, and that is so admirable. Only you can be a momma to your kids…no one else can do that. Enjoy each moment with your kiddos! You’re doing a great job :)ReplyCancel

  • Lisa - They are only little once, enjoy every second and don’t feel bad about not posting at all!!! Your family is most important!!ReplyCancel

  • Kelley T - Absolutely we understand! Seriously, the fact that you have those priorities is one of the reasons I come back to your blog. It is so inspiring and convicting. It makes me remember why I haven’t pursued my photography business more. My 2 1/2 year old and 4 month old are just TOO WORTH IT! Thanks for your courage to be all there.ReplyCancel

  • Veronica - Pf course. You must. Your posts always make me tear up. Every. Single. Time. As a stay-at-home mom of a 2 year old & a 7 month old, and owner of a fledgling photography business, I understand completely.ReplyCancel

  • Isabel - No worries! You have wonderful, existing content that is so valuable over and over again. I come here at least every other day looking for some tips, inspiration, etc. (today was how to style a family photo shoot :) And I can’t wait until you have your new stuff. Google Analytics is gonna be off the charts I’m sure!! Enjoy your babies… it’s going by way too fastReplyCancel

  • Drue - Good for you!! So happy you are so wise. Enjoy every minute!!
    Love your honesty.ReplyCancel

  • Kathryn - I am one of your die hard readers that joined the influx after Everett was born. You have inspired me to be a better mother to my little ones, and I agree, enjoy every minute with them! My little Drew was born February 29, so I can relate to what you are going through! Keep it up, Mama! As you said, they only stay little for so long<3ReplyCancel

  • Heather - Good for you. Be there with your babies because, as you well know from your daughter, it flies by all too fast. I had my third baby on Christmas day of last year and discovered your blog while cruising the web during marathon nursing sessions. I’ve enjoyed it so much and can say that I’ve contributed quite a bit to that hit count :) Thanks for the fantastic tips, particularly the baby food posts. I’ve implemented your system with the cute green silicone trays and everything. Hang in there, get some sleep ( easier said than done…I know), and sniff those babies with a totally free conscience!ReplyCancel

  • Heidi - A strong woman with boundaries (and she’s sticking to them)…that is something admirable! One day your kids will appreciate your sacrifices! Thanks for always inspiring.ReplyCancel

  • debra - It shows just how strong you are. It takes a lot to let your selfish wants/desires sit on the back burner for your kids. I think it is something that all of us mom’s MUST remind ourselves daily…they are only this little once…b/c tomorrow is another day closer to them being past this ‘stage’. Enjoy your babies and enjoy being you because YOU ROCK!ReplyCancel

  • Brooke - Don’t give it a second thought, Shawna! You’re doing exactly what you need to do now, and we’ll all still be here with you when you’re ready for a comeback.ReplyCancel

  • Haidy - I get so excited when I see a new post on your blog…but I love it all the more because I can see how special and important your family is to you and how happy your kids are. I don’t know you but this is one of the few blogs I read regularly – whether you’re consistently posting or not. Keep putting your family first; you won’t regret it :)ReplyCancel

  • Renee Booe - I totally get this! Good for you girl.ReplyCancel

  • Carrie - I LOVE this picture!!! So cute and the babes are eating you up! I, for one, will be here whenever you come back 100%. For now, I’m enjoying whatever you do post. And those little ones are way more important than this blog (even if I do love the blog!).ReplyCancel

  • Amanda - Shawna! I just wanted to share with you that I just adore your blog and all of your wonderful posts, advice, wisdom and grace. I wanted to let you know that you are inspiring and a great role model for all of us moms/women out there. I am among the first of my peers to have children and I was in search for a role model of sorts, the type of mom who actually WANTED to spend time with her children, learn right beside her children and experience motherhood and all that goes along with it and what I found in my own peer group was less than par and then one day I discovered your blog and your take on motherhood was extremely refreshing and I just wanted you to know how much of an impact you have had on my life and my mothering. Thank you for sharing your life with me and with many, I am truly grateful!
